investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
A bivariate INAR(1) time series model with geometric marginals
In this paper we introduce a simple bivariate integer-valued time series model with positively correlated geometric marginals based on the negative binomial thinning mechanism. Some properties of the model are considered. The unknown parameters of the model are estimated using the modified conditional least squares method. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

متن کاملA Sparse Grid Discretization with Variable Coefficient in High Dimensions
We present a Ritz-Galerkin discretization on sparse grids using pre-wavelets, which allows to solve elliptic differential equations with variable coefficients for dimension d = 2, 3 and higher dimensions d > 3. The method applies multilinear finite elements. We introduce an efficient algorithm for matrix vector multiplication using a Ritz-Galerkin discretization and semi-orthogonality. This alg...
متن کاملBlow-up for a reaction-diffusion equation with variable coefficient
We study the blow-up behavior for positive solutions of a reaction–diffusion equationwith nonnegative variable coefficient. When there is no stationary solution, we show that the solution blows up in finite time. Under certain conditions, we then show that any point with zero source cannot be a blow-up point. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
